The forthcoming expedition
The Karakorum expedition has received a warm response both by media and the public, and raised an enthusiastic interest also in the scientific community. These facts have granted the project a strong and defined international character, foreboding a growing attention for the next expeditions – especially, the one scheduled in Summer 2011 and headed for Caucasus, a peculiar, charming and interesting area, also in terms of scientific appeal.
Convention at the Italian Geographic Society

The conference, organized by Macromicro in collaboration with the Italian Geographic Society and with the contribution of Enel Green Power, the company Enel for the development and management of renewable sources in Italy and around the world, will analyze the relationship and symbiosis between glaciology and photography, in particular applied to the study of glaciers in the Karakoram mountains, that have always had a special relationship with Italy.
The photographic Exhibition
On the Trails of the Glaciers: Karakorum 2009
Produced in collaboration and with the patronage of the Town Council of Rome, the photographic exhibition has been held from Feb 24th to Apr 1st 2010 in a prestigious institutional venue such as Santa Rita Hall, a very short distance from Palazzo Venezia. The exhbition, supported by Enel Green Power and with the technical sponsorship of Epson Italia, Sony Italia and 10b Photography.
The television documentary
On the Trails of the Glaciers: Karakorum 2009
The documentary was shot during the field expedition to Karakoram and includes several new interviews with researchers of the scientific committee of the project; it was created by the production company SD Cinematografica (www.sdcinematografica.it) by Roberto Dall’Angelo, and directed by Paolo Aralla; it will be distributed worldwide to major television broadcasters.
